PROJECT 02

UNDERLINE

SEC filings and earnings briefs, made readable

FIELD

FINANCIAL INTELLIGENCE, SEC FILINGS & EARNINGS

OWNERSHIP

0-TO-1 PRODUCT, UX & DESIGN SYSTEMS

STACK

FIGMA, 2 DESIGN SYSTEMS, NIELSEN HEURISTICS, WCAG AAA, VERCEL

RESULT

6 PROTOTYPES IN 1 NIGHT, 2 DESIGN SYSTEMS IN 4 WEEKS

ROLE

Product design, UX, design systems

THE PROBLEM

Investors reading 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks, and earnings releases face walls of regulatory prose. Most AI summary tools wrap that prose in generic chat bubbles that bury the disclosures that matter.

WHAT HE FOUND

Thomas owned the product brief, information architecture, and interaction model from first sketch to deploy. He worked through 6 clickable prototypes in one night, then ran Nielsen heuristic reviews and WCAG contrast tests.

WHAT HE BUILT

Over 4 weeks Thomas built two complete design systems, replacing the first to strip out generic AI styling. The shipped Vercel app turns raw filings into structured earnings briefs built for scanning.

THE OUTCOME

Underline shipped as a live Vercel app that turns raw SEC filings into structured earnings briefs. Over four weeks Thomas built two design systems for it, replacing the first to strip out generic AI styling.

SOURCE // TESLA 10-Q, Q2 2026, ITEM 2 MD&A
The following discussion and analysis should be read in conjunction with the consolidated financial statements and the related notes included elsewhere in this Quarterly Report on Form 10-Q.
During the three and six months ended June 30, 2026, we recognized total revenues of $28.24 billion and $50.62 billion, respectively, representing increases of $5.74 billion and $8.79 billion, respectively, compared to the same periods in the prior year.
We are focused on long-term growth opportunities through critical, high-value investments.
We currently expect our capital expenditures to be in excess of $25 billion in 2026, driven by our AI initiatives ... Gross margin for total automotive decreased from 17.2% to 16.9% in the three months ended June 30, 2026 as compared to the three months ended June 30, 2025.
SOURCE // TESLA 10-K, FY2025, ITEM 1A
We are highly dependent on the services of Elon Musk, Technoking of Tesla and our Chief Executive Officer.
Although Mr. Musk spends significant time with Tesla and is highly active in our management, he does not devote his full time and attention to Tesla.

THE WORK

var(--variable-BQEgASgBy)

DETAILS

Replaced chat bubbles with fixed filing-brief sections and source-citation anchors.

Applied Nielsen’s visibility heuristic to put YoY revenue, EPS change, and risk disclosures above the fold.

Calibrated line length and 19.4:1 contrast for long reads through 100-page 10-Ks.

Systematized a second-generation component library in week 4 to lock financial figures into tabular alignment.
